Methodology & criteria
Pocket Pivot (O'Neil/Gil Morales): an early accumulation signal. It's a strong up day with a high close, whose daily volume is GREATER than the largest down-volume day of the last 10 trading days — all happening near the 10-day EMA. This points to institutional buying, often BEFORE the stock visibly breaks out; at the bottom of a base it signals support, and multiple pocket pivots indicate accumulation. With a liquidity filter (price > $3, average $ volume > $2M) to keep out illiquid penny stocks.
Global filters: market cap of $50B or less (mega caps are cut from every scanner); 10- and 30-day ADR must be ≥ 1% (too little movement gets cut); names after a reverse split (distorted price history) are excluded.
