Benjamin Graham: Enterprising Investor

Methodology & criteria
Graham's criteria for the enterprising investor ("The Intelligent Investor", Ch. 15) — the more active sibling of the defensive approach: smaller companies are allowed (market cap ≥ $50M), but the price discipline is stricter — P/E at most 10 and market cap at most 120% of tangible equity (book value excluding goodwill). Plus solid financing (debt ratio ≤ 1), earnings stability (positive earnings per share in each of the last six quarters), and year-over-year earnings growth (each of the two most recent quarters above the same quarter a year earlier — quarter is compared with the same quarter of the prior year so that seasonality does not decide the outcome). The original's dividend criterion is dropped (no dividend history in the dataset); the current-asset rules are approximated via the debt ratio, and the earnings window is the same for every company, otherwise the same rule would be stricter or looser depending on how much history happens to be stored.
